I am sure that many PHP developers that a new to the World of Mac development are relieved when they realize (or already know) that PHP is already installed on their Mac by default. But the time and setup to get Apache2, PHP and MySQL to interact together, in an easy manage fashion might be a little harder in the beginning. If you are the type of user that is just doing some local web development and then moving it to a live server or maybe a staging server it is worthwhile to just go and download MAMP. I am pleased to let everyone know about an Orlando PHP Users Group. Some of us in the developer community have re-formed this group to help build a better PHP community and better the networking between us. The first meeting will on April 22nd on the campus of Devry University @ Millenia from 7 - 9 pm. Please visit the website orlandophp.org for more information. If you are a PHP developer in the Central Florida Area, or want to learn this is a great chance to hone your skills, or develop some new ones, and really network with other developers in the Central Florida Area. Look forward to seeing you there.

Well I finally bought the computer to replace my 20″ iMac G5 (that I sold over 6 months ago). I went to the Apple store today to purchase a new 24″ iMac. Let me tell you Cory’s advice was dead on. Getting a 24″ was well worth it, lots of space on the desktop etc. The one negative is how much physical desk space it took up. Oh well, a sacrifice I am willing to take.
Also for anyone who didn’t know, I have left UCF and am now working for a very creative web development company, NFi Studios. I have been there already 3 weeks, and I feel right at home. I work with some pretty remarkable people, who take great pride in the end product, and know how to have fun doing it. So overall life is great! BarCamp Orlando is coming up, so if you are into that kinda stuff, get your butt out there. Also the release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 is coming up. Lot’s to do this month and next. I hope to update some, in a bit.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while…
Marching Knights are leaving on the 26th to goto Memphis for the Liberty Bowl, which is very exciting for me, since I get to go. Life is good, enjoying the holiday break.
Check out Yahoo Pipes if you have a chance and are a RSS Feed person. It is really worth the time.
Back to work!
